Just over two weeks ago it was my 35th Birthday and I had the best party! My sister and best friend got together and surprised me with a #dinnertainworthy backyard movie night with my all-time favorite movie When Harry Met Sally.
The Backyard Set-Up
I loved everything about this relaxed boho picnic vibe. From the strung lights to the blankets, pillows, low tables and mini Coke-a-Cola bottles (my fave), it was all just right! And how smart were they with the flameless candles? Amirite?
The noshes were on point for any movie viewing experience. Thank God my parents had a popcorn machine to share and my brother-in-law is a crafty woodworker to make these candy and hot dog crates. Also, is that Sunshine Punch I spy? Find the recipe here!
I basically have a girl crush on Meg Ryan and love every one of her movies. I’ve also seen each of them at least 20+ times, it’s almost embarrassing. But “When Harry Met Sally” is my ultimate fave from the 80s vibe, to being set in Chicago and New York, to being fall, to the music, to the cast. I just can’t! We ended up making this a double-feature, tacking on “Sleepless In Seattle!”
In truth, I knew ahead of time that my sister and friend were doing something for me, I just didn’t know what. The only hard request I made to my sister was that I wanted a cake. I don’t know how, perhaps through some sisterly wavelength, but I just knew she would end up making this Pistachio cake. AND it was delicious and gorgeous. Great job Katie!! You can find that and other suggestions on my Pinterest Cake board.
I saved the best for last! Here are the gals that pulled together this amazing backyard movie night for me. On the left you have one of my older sisters, Katie, and to the right, you have my best friend of 20 years, Beth. My favorite part about them wanting to host this and make it all cute and special, is that they were inspired by Dinnertain, which is our exact mission!
